Our Adelaide Trip - Day 1

December 17th 2010

Well here we are in Merredin – its 7.48pm and I’m sitting outside enjoying the beautiful breeze – we arrived here about 4pm and decided to stay in a caravan park for the first night (as Ryan experienced a mild case of gastro today – it would be nicer for him to be near toilets and showers)! Ryan is now attempting to put Olivia to bed as I type this blog – it’s always hard the first couple of nights with her – she has to get used to it all – but before we know it she will adapt and it will be nice and easy to

We had good intentions of leaving nice and early this morning but it ended up being 11am before we managed to leave! It was kind of perfect timing coz it meant that Olivia had a nice sleep in the car – she fell asleep instantly!

So our trip - we have a 3 week time frame to get to Adelaide and back home again. We hope to catch up with some friends in Port Noarlunga (just out of Adelaide) and also go to the Barossa Valley before heading home again!

Our first stop today was Northam – we parked up alongside a park on the Avon River to have lunch and let Olivia play on the toys – which she loved – I guess at her age there is only so much time in the car you can handle before getting bored and wanting out! But she did travel quiet well today – she had another sleep just before we got to Merredin (maybe that’s why she is still awake now)!

Next we travelled to Meckering – we had a look at the earthquake site and also an information bay with info all about the earthquake that occurred in 1968 (I guess my parents would remember it as it was felt all the way in Perth – but it was before I was born)!

And then on to Merredin and here we are – Ryan has given up on putting Olivia to bed and they are both now sitting next to me!

Oh, just had to mention- just before we left home this morning my gorgeous hubby gave me a little pressie – another charm for my Pandora bracelet and a necklace from Michael Hill Jeweller (no particular reason – but just coz he could – isn’t he sweet)! Been looking forward to this holiday for a while – just the three of us travelling in our caravan – enjoying family time together!

Ok, Olivia is finally in bed – think it’s time for me to go to bed as well!

PS - It's taking up a lot of the internet memory - so have to restrict the amount of photos I download!

Hi Erica, Sounds like you're having a fabulous trip, even though you've only written on day so far :) Do you know what - we spent christmas day at Port Pirie many years ago when we were travelling over east too! Enjoy christmas day and the rest of the trip. Monique
