December 29th and 30th
Today (Wednesday) we decided to go to the Adelaide Zoo – we got there nice and early to beat the heat (it opens at 9.30)! Wow what an awesome zoo – they even had a children’s zoo where Olivia could hold animals, pet them etc – she loved that – at the end of the day we had to go there once again just for her! We got to see the gorgeous pandas (Wang Wang and Funi) as well – they are only open for a couple of hours each day – so that was pretty cool.
We left the zoo about 2pm and went to IKEA (to pick up some more yummy meatballs – I know – but Olivia loves their meatballs so it’s the perfect dinner for her – bought two packs so that should last for our trip home (oh and bought the gravy and cranberry sauce as well – yummy)!
When we got back to our caravan it was soooo hot so off we went to the “The Good Guys” and bought a portable air con – ahhhhh what a relieve that was – especially during the night coz it meant we got a good night’s sleep!
We woke up all refreshed and ready for another day today – Ryan had to do some work (visit some businesses for work) – so he dropped me and Olivia off at Westfield Tea Tree Plaza (like Carousel but triple the size (even has carpet through one section of the shopping centre – I know weird hey))! We spent an enjoyable morning shopping – when Ryan came to pick us up we had lunch and then did some grocery shopping! When we walked out the shop – it was super hot (but we were looking forward to a nice cool caravan) – oh no - all we got was a stinking hot caravan (the air con had stopped working and was only pumping out hot air – so while I did the laundry Ryan quickly went back to get a new one – we are now sitting back relaxing in a nice cool caravan (it’s still 25 degree’s out there at 10pm)!
Tomorrow we are heading to Port Noarlunga and parking our caravan in the vacant block near Derry and Barb McGoo’s house (mates from when we go up to Cape Leveque – we meet every two years up there!) – they have a spare room and toilet/shower upstairs which we will be using – we hope to stay there till Monday – when we will be making the long journey back home!
We are spending New Years with Derry and Barb and some other people we know from Cape Leveque – so that should be enjoyable!
Also tomorrow morning we hope to get up nice and early and head to the Botanical Gardens at 7.30am – for a nice walk before it gets too hot – they are expecting 43 degree’s tomorrow – so a nice hot one!
Just an interesting note – they don’t have stoplights in the middle of the intersections – only on the sides – it’s meant a couple of close calls and a bit of yelling on my behalf at Ryan to stop before we go through a red light.....lol – not too sure why they don’t – but it’s very dangerous (unless I guess if you are used to it)! Otherwise it’s all the same except for the trams I guess!
Till next time!
