Today was our longest stretch so far - 7 hours of driving (very very boring driving) – but we thought we would try to get it over and done with as soon as possible. I was quiet excited coz I had never been across the Nullarbor by car – hmmmmmm ok well I’ve now done it – not soooo exciting as I thought it would be – just lots and lots of driving through very boring country side! We left Norseman about 8.30 this morning and arrived in Eucla about 4.30pm this afternoon – we stopped for lunch at a rest stop just out of Balladonia!
We quickly set up and then took a drive down to the beach for a quick look at the old telegraph station which is just ruins now – slowly disappearing under sand! We then drove further to the beach and went for a walk – so nice to feel sand beneath our feet again and watch the waves (seeing just shrubs and small trees for most of today made seeing the beach so much more awesome!)
We got back to camp and had dinner – Ryan went to get some warm water from the laundry for our dishes and came back with some visitors – Matt and Sandra Schoof and kids - We never expected to see anyone we knew on the border of Western Australia and South Australia – but here we are camped today in the same camping spot as them – what a spin out - was nice to catch up with them and have a chat!
Well not much to type today – tomorrow we are heading over the border and will finally be in South Australia! Olivia is whinging and carrying on wanting a bottle of milk – must be bed time for her and time for me and Ryan to have a cuppa and relax!
Had to take a photo - of course....
Happily playing on her bike...
LOVING the sand - we all enjoyed seeing the coast again and the beach - was good to feel sand between our feet....
This photo says it all - she loves the beach...
Olivia sitting on an old boat that is just about gone....
The Big Whale at Eucla...
Ummmm Ryan is point to Adelaide and Olivia is pointing to Brisbane....
