4wd Driving and Photos!

It's Monday afternoon - just come home from work and thought I may as well get some blogging done.

Early Morning - stopped at a petrol station just before Harvey and had to take a photo of this tree. It was freezing cold and you can see the fine mist just on the ground. The sun had just come up and was behind the tree silhouetting it!

Some of the beautiful scenery along the 4wd tracks - I wish I could build a house here - it's soooooo peaceful and beautiful!

Well down to Harvey we went again on Saturday for some more 4wd driving. We went with Steve & Katherine and Derek & Malcolm. We have had some awesome storms and lots of rain - so we knew it was going to be very very muddy. And it was - to get up a lot of the hills required winching (except for Steve's car which plows through anything and gets everywhere)!!
Ryan's Car before it got covered in mud and dirt!Ryan's Car at the end of the day - covered in mud and not only the outside - the inside was covered in mud as well as you can see from the photo below - so today he is getting it detailed inside and out - I told him he had to coz I don't want to get my clothes filthy next time I go in the car - I'm such a priss in that way - I hate dirty cars!

Then around lunch time as we were going down a hill all of a sudden "snap" - yep something went wrong with the steering box - it snapped etc (not too sure exactly what happened - I'm only a female and don't know much about these things) - but needless to say that was the end of our day - no power steering left and we didn't want to do further damage etc. But to get out we had one more big hill to go up - so once again we had to be winched the entire way up - long and tedious and by that time we had definitely had enough - nothing worse then your car breaking and it was a long and slow painful progress winching up the hill - but in the end we finally made it out of there and arrived home about 6pm.

A bit of panel damage to Ryan's car - luckily nothing to serious and should be able to be fixed soon!

Ryan's Car - Just beginning to get dirty!

Steve's Car - Muddy

Steve's Car stuck! He had to be winched out (the one and only time)!

Ryan's Muddy Shoes - This was at the beginning of the day - towards the end he was knee high in mud!

Ryan looking at what was wrong with his car - the steering box - great!

Well instead of cooking dinner that night (we were too tired and cold) - we went to the PK Tavern with Steve & Katherine and my brother-in-law Nigel (Amanda is up north visiting Vanessa). I must admit I cheated a bit with the food (but I made good choices - I had garlic prawns which is allowed on this diet and then for main I chose honey chili chicken (the chicken was breast which is also the only chicken allowed). It came on a bed of rice - but I didn't eat that - only the chicken and I made sure I didn't have dessert - and to top if off I actually lost another kilo that day. But I'm back on track again and eating strictly to the plan again. I guess its all about the good healthy choices we make and I'm learning very quickly that it's not hard to go out and still eat healthy!!

Well I should go and make dinner now. So till next time cheerio xx

I'll leave you with some photos I took on Saturday. I'm still practicing with my camera and have a lot to learn - so they aren't the best shots but they are a start.
