Life and another big storm hits Rockingham/Warnbro...

Well it's been one of those really winter days. Rain, rain and more rain. This morning as I was driving to work a mini tornado hit Rockingham and I just happened to be in the middle of it. There were gutters flying around and bits of roofs and houses on the road and verge etc. There were trees and branches everywhere - all over the road and hanging off power lines and then there was the flooding on the roads - couldn't even drive in the right hand lane coz that was flooded to. You could see exactly the trail of destruction it was leaving in its path - a big mess. And then because of all the flooding my brakes failed on my car - soooooo lucky there wasn't a car in front of me (must have been all that water getting into my brakes). By the time I got to work I was shaking a bit and was totally soaked through and freezing cold - coz from my front door to my car a little umbrella doesn't do much help but keep your head dry. But as soon as the storm hit it was over and we only had a bit more rain for the rest of the day.

Well I've had a busy weekend. Friday night I went to Michelle's place for a card making night. There were about 10 of us girls and we made 5 cards etc. We started at 7.30pm and finished at 12pm. It was a late night - but lots of fun!

Saturday I had my nephew Connor's Birthday Party. But first of all I went and watched him play footy - awwwww they are soooooo cute to watch - he is a good player but and kicked 4 goals. His team is the Kenwick Royal's but the Queenspark Bulldogs were short some players so he was asked to play for them. By half time he had kicked 3 goals and his team asked him if he wanted to play for the Kenwick Royal's for the second half - but no he wanted to be on the winning team - lol it was funny - little football players in the making - just adorable.

Connor with his favourite team (Essendon) footy shirt on!
The Kenwick Royal's Uniform!
Warming up before the game!
Half time - need oranges to quench thirst!
Jake with Connor's water bottle - Connor's runner!

In the afternoon we had his birthday party - 28 kids running around - it was soooooooooo noisy - I had a headache by the end of it.

Connor getting ready to blow out the candles on his birthday cake!

Joyce lighting the candles!Big breath - 6 candles to blow out!
Cake that Joyce made (can't remember what it is - but something like power rangers I think)! Can't keep up with all the latest trends in kids toys!

Saturday night we had our Mystery Dinner. The social committee (which I'm part of) organised it. This is how it works. Everyone who wants to be involved has to let us know - and also let us know if they want to be hosts or guests for the evening. Each host receives 8 guests at there place. On Monday we got together as committee and put everyone's name in a hat and then divided them into groups of 8 or 10. The hosts are notified a week in advance (but not who will be coming to their house). The guests are notified 3 hours beforehand - but are only given an address - thus Mystery Dinner. We ended up at Brad & Michelle Pleiters house and had a really fantastic night. Lots and lots of fun. We are planning another one more then likely again for the end of this year some time. We also did fund raising for the Lighthouse Ministries that is starting up in Rockingham - so all fun for a good cause!

Sunday we went to Des & Sonya's place to celebrate Sonya's, Kyle's and Leanne's Birthdays. All there birthdays are within the next month but they leave to go to Canada next week Sunday so we celebrated them all on one day. Sunday afternoon was spent relaxing and making some more cards.

So that's been my weekend - pretty busy and full on and next week is going to be the same again. I've got a housewarming party at Brad & Michelle's. Saturday night I've got my brother's engagement party and then Sunday it's back to Armadale to celebrate Dad Swart's Birthday and then off to the airport at 11pm to drop Des & Sonya and Kids off.

Hope everyone is having a good start to week.

Till next Time xx

Must have been your turn for the bad weather, ours was last week. The stormy weather can be scary, especially when driving.
Sounds like you had a busy but great weekend. Lots of good memories. The card making sounds like lots of fun - keep it up - always nice sharing with lots of girls.
Enjoy your week - take care

Wow, you are one busy lady! Looks like it was fun, though. Your nephew (and nieces) are getting big.
Take care, and enjoy the coming weekend when it gets here.

I heard about the wild weather in Rocko. And you getting caught twice in that weather, pretty scary.
Your weekends sound like lots of fun but busy.
And the cards you are making look fantastic. You call yourself a beginner, but I'm thinking you may have been doing this for a while already, just not letting on hey!
