Our New Vegetable Garden!

Well we have finally finished our vegetable garden! Photos Below. I looked up a bit of information on the internet in regards to companion planting and also when to plant certain vegetables. We wanted cucumber and zucchini but will have to wait till November before we plant them.

We have left a bit of room to stagger the planting so we don't get a whole lot of vegetables at once. We can't totally avoid it because when you buy a punnet you get 8 little plants - So anyone who wants free vegetables or herbs come on round in a couple months time (that's if the snails and slugs and white moths don't get to them first! I'm armed with a lot of different sprays (herbal that my Mum made) which work wonder's!.

We decided to go to K'Mart on Saturday to find a home mushroom kit - there were two left - so we bought both of them. We started our first one yesterday and then in a month's time we will start the next one.

At the moment Ryan is at Bunnings - we need to build some kind of fence to keep our dogs out of the vegetable/herb garden - little terrors decided they like the sheep poo - yuk I know - but they love it and keep walking in the garden and eating it! So hopefully Ryan finds something soon and then all we have to do is sit back and watch all our vegetables/herbs grow!

From the photos it may look that Ryan did all the work - but that's coz I'm the one with the camera - I did just as much and by the end of the day we were both really tired!

Ryan hard at work!

Our Vegetable garden taking shape!

Our temporary borders (we went to Ryan's workshop on Saturday morning and made these borders - looks alright so might wait till we buy some limestone borders)

Ryan putting the finishing touches to the garden!

Shoveling sheep poo and manure!

wow, erica. sure looks good. i like the idea of the garden running along the fence rather than taking a square chunk out of the backyard, iykwim. pity you have a while to wait for the cucumbers and zucchini, but oh well. hope those doggies behave themselves and don't take a liking to tomatoes etc. i'm sure you would have been tired by the end of the day, shovelling etc is hard work.

Hiya Erica,
Nice you both have a liking for the outdoors, nice doing things together.
Sure looks good and while you sit back and enjoy the growth it will sure be worth it, fresh vegies.
Well hope those slimy slugs dont get to it but sounds like you are well prpeared for them. Enjoy...

Hey Erica, how's it going still on top of the world?
And that vegy garden, no snail attacks yet!
