Fire.....

We had a little bit of excitement today - a fire across the road in the bush and low scrub area! It started early this morning about 5am and finally now at 1.30pm looks like they have managed to get most of it out! But there are still water helicopters flying over all the time. I took some photos!

When we went to church this morning it looked alright - but when we got home roads were blocked off and the wind was changing direction all the time! People were starting to hose their houses down - little bit scary coz when there is wind you can never predict which direction a fire will go in! But they seemed to have most of the fire out now - still helicopters flying around - but not as frequently!

Me - Posing!!

Water Bomber (There were 3 in total - this was the big one)!

Ryan on top of the roof (he put the sprinkler on top just in case)!

View from our back yard!

Water Bomber!

View this morning when the sun was coming up!
The fire looked awesome this morning -
photos don't give a true picture of what it really looked like!

Across the road from our house!
Another water helicopter!
Our backyard was covered in smoke -
Inside the house smells like smoke - I smell like smoke!

My new vegetable garden is covered in ash!

I'll post some photos later of our vegetable garden!

That would have been a little scary, Erica! I remember we had a bush fire behind our house once and I was ready to pack, but I didn't know what to pack first...lol...so I didn't bother.
It sure looks smokey. The sunrise still looked pretty awesome though.
I notice you have the same limestone wall as us, we love ours against the green grass.
Hopefully the ash will provide your vegie garden with some nutrients to get it started hey! Always look on the bright side.

Just noticed that your limestone blocks are half the size of ours...and we don't have dog poo on our grass...lol.

Lol, I should remember to pick up the dog poo before I take photos! I pick it up every morning but as soon as I pick it all up there's another one - I swear the dog's do it on purpose and then laugh at me!
