ABC.....

Tuesday is daycare day!!

Olivia started daycare about 5 weeks ago - she started off with half days but today was one full day! She is slowly getting used to daycare and today was a really good day - I peeked through the window before opening the door and saw her happily playing with her little friends!

It was a hard decision to send her to daycare but one that I'm glad we made. Olivia is an extremley clingy little girl who wouldn't go to anyone - only mummy and daddy (major seperation anxiety) - it wasn't getting any better - only seemed to be getting worse! I was the only one who could put her to bed and comfort her - daddy wasn't good enough for some reason (coz trust me she loves her daddy), she wouldn't go to anyone (not even for cuddles), people would walk in the front door and she would start crying - so you get the gist of things - just a little bit scared of the big wide world and those alien people that inhabit earth!

So on advice from several people and Ngala it was decided to put her in daycare one day a week - to get her used to other people, make some little friends and have fun along the way! We decided on ABC in Baldivis - both my sisters have sent their girls there and highly recommended it.

We are slowly seeing improvement in her - she now goes to several more auntys and uncles for cuddles and was giving grandad and grandma lots and lots of cuddles on Sunday night - so different to before!! The ladies at daycare have informed me that they are noticing a difference as well - apparently today was a really good day for her - hardly any crying (just a couple tears here and there) and she had lots of fun - even got to do painting today!

So hopefully we will start seeing big improvements in her attitude and nature soon! I think we will be continuing daycare until she goes to Kindy now. It's great - they get to do lots of different craft activities, learn to interact with other children, music, dance, learning new skills - all in all a good way to get used to going to school....

It is a hard decision to make, especially as it seems in our circles so 'wrong' to send our children to day-care or not something that is done very easily. But I sent my twins for about a year, mainly for a break and to get them out of their 'shell' a little - I hated leaving them because they always cried, but I knew that it didn't last for long and they always had a fabulous time.
Hope Olivia settles in well and you enjoy the free time. x
